Susan Feit became NCCJ’s Executive Director in 2007. Across two continents, Susan has dedicated her life to building inclusive, just societies and brings to her role as Executive Director her international experience in racial and ethnic relations.
Raised in the Chicago area, Susan lived in Israel for over 20 years before returning to the United States in 2004. Susan earned her Masters Degree in Public Policy from the Tel Aviv University. In Israel, Susan worked in public and private foundations, as well as in evaluation of social, economic and educational programs. As the Director of the Israel office of the Moriah Fund, Susan worked extensively with Arabs and Ethiopian Jews. She was appointed by the former Israeli Minister of Education to co-chair a committee to improve educational opportunities for the Ethiopian-Israeli community; founded two affinity groups for funders interested in special populations—one dedicated to Bedouin Arabs and the other to Ethiopian immigrants; and visited the Gaza Strip as a guest of the Palestinian Authority.
Upon arriving in the Piedmont Triad, Susan began working as a consultant to foundations and nonprofits, including the United Way of Greater Greensboro, before joining NCCJ. Susan has appeared on local NPR in segments that highlight her experience of teaching her family and herself how to move beyond fear and work with Arabs to promote peace. She also serves as a Community Columnist for the Greensboro News & Record. Susan resides in Greensboro with her husband and two children.
