Students develop and implement projects to support academic achievement and to improve school climate. Two models are available for implementation on campus:
Notes of Hope – A one-hour activity for students to explore spoken word and creative expression to build community within the school and across cultures. Students lend their voice to connecting with youth in other countries through expressions of good will and common hopes for peace. This program reframes September 11th as an opportunity to promote global and local brotherhood/sisterhood.
Speak Up! – A one-hour workshop designed to help students understand the impact of everyday bigotry and to develop and practice ways to respond to these incidents. Using incidents students experience every day in their schools, this session empowers student leaders to take positive action when they encounter biased speech.
